About Morrisons
Morrisons is one of the largest supermarket chains in the United Kingdom, known for offering a wide range of products, including fresh food, groceries, clothing, and household goods. Founded in 1899 by William Morrison as a market stall in Rawson Market, Bradford, the company initially sold butter and eggs, before expanding to offer a broader selection of food items.
Until 2004, its store locations were focused in the North of England but, with the takeover of Safeway in that year, the company’s presence increased significantly in the South of England, Wales and Scotland.
Morrisons now serves over 9 million customers every week, supported by around 118,000 staff.

The customer challenge
Until the year 2017 our customer, Morrisons, only traded with customers through their physical stores and their own online channel.
Morrisons expanded their geographical reach and added a new revenue stream by introducing a new B2B wholesale trading platform, delivering end to end order to cash capabilities built from scratch using AWS technology.
The further expansion of this trading platform has now involved collaboration with other service providers, trading B2C through partner marketplaces such as Amazon Prime and Amazon.co.uk.
And now we have gone further and facilitated the partnership with quick commerce partners such as Deliveroo and Just Eat for ordering groceries, market kitchen and cafe products as a delivery service, all powered by the central platform provided by Mastek.
