The London Borough of Lambeth, which serves a young demographic population of approximately 320,000, has recently embarked on a significant transformation programme across all its service areas to ensure that the ‘Lambeth Vision of the Future’ maximises the skills of an agile, flexible, and digitally enabled workforce. 

Project Summary

London Borough of Lambeth is the first public sector organisation in the UK & Ireland to embark on a complete, end-to-end Oracle Cloud suite implementation including Oracle Cloud Payroll to deliver a new modern enterprise resource planning (ERP) system designed to transform the way that Lambeth delivers back-office services across finance, procurement, human resources (HR), and payroll-related functions.

The Situation

The London Borough of Lambeth was initially a member of ‘One Oracle’, a shared system with five other London Authorities operating on Oracle EBS R12 which was a very costly, resource-intensive, and heavily customised solution with minimal self-service.

The Solution

Lambeth Council has successfully gone live with Oracle Cloud Application Services covering Financials, Project Financials, Procurement, Planning and Budgeting, HR, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition and Payroll. One of the most important components in achieving this success was collaboration. The success of this project has been down to the dedication and commitment of both ours and the London Borough of Lambeth Teams. Both of the teams worked together as one project team, building trust and working as partners, each bringing their respective expertise and knowledge to the project.

The team have guided us through the programme to go-live and all of the team have responded enthusiastically to the demands of the brief to enable us to deliver the programme successfully. They have worked with patience and dedication to the project and have maintained excellent relationships with all involved. The team worked seamlessly with our change management consultants Socitm Advisory to deliver user education and training, responding to the developing needs of staff as they went through testing and early training. The successful go-live is a tribute to the close working relationships between the Lambeth, Mastek and Socitm Advisory teams.

The Outcome

The Borough decided to migrate to Oracle Cloud stating that it is a robust solution and a step change in terms of usability and user experience, and at the same time reducing costs and internal resource requirements.
